Sustainability

For Assagenti and Assagenti Servizi S.r.l.U, sustainability is more than just a word—it is a journey. It means moving towards the future with a sense of responsibility.
With a strong commitment to sustainable development—defined by the Brundtland Report as “development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs”—Assagenti and Assagenti Servizi S.r.l.U are determined to intensify their efforts to preserve natural resources, ecosystems, and biodiversity, while safeguarding fundamental human and labor rights.

All suppliers and event partners have embraced the principles of broad-scale sustainable development, adhering to ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) criteria. This initiative serves as both a starting point and an example for our associated companies.

Assagenti and Assagenti Servizi S.r.l.U are committed to operating sustainably and responsibly, focusing on:

  • Protecting workers' rights, particularly ensuring fair access, equal contractual conditions, and the elimination of any form of labor exploitation.
  • Managing natural resources efficiently and responsibly.
  • Combating all forms of pollution by actively monitoring the lifecycle of materials and ensuring sustainable waste management.
  • Reducing harmful emissions into the atmosphere. Enhancing energy efficiency in sourcing and electricity consumption.

In organizing the 16th edition of the Shipbrokers Shipagents Dinner, all parties involved with Assagenti are expected to:

  • Reduce or eliminate paper use by prioritizing digital materials.
  • Minimize packaging, favoring recycled materials and eliminating unnecessary wrapping.
  • Choose plastic-free or recycled plastic materials.
  • Opt for electric vehicles for transporting people, raw materials, equipment, and furniture.
  • Avoid or minimize the use of toxic chemicals, favoring biodegradable and eco-friendly alternatives.
  • Limit the use of non-recyclable or non-reusable furniture and materials.
  • Select modular and space-efficient furniture to optimize transportation.
  • Reduce the number of plants used (especially exotic species), opting for rentals or reusable greenery.
  • Strictly comply with waste disposal regulations, emphasizing recycling and composting.
  • Minimize water consumption and prefer tap water over bottled water whenever possible.
  • Promote locally sourced food products (Km Zero) in the Food & Beverage sector.
  • Prioritize reusable catering materials (e.g., ceramic/glassware) and biodegradable alternatives.
  • Use reusable or biodegradable cutlery, tablecloths, and napkins.
  • Favor bulk food items over individually packaged products (e.g., sugar packets).

One of the sustainable choices made for the Shipbrokers Shipagents Dinner is the carpeting used to welcome guests. The carpet’s composition and 100% recyclable CSI certification allow for post-event recycling. Polypropylene, a high-value material in the recycling industry, is repurposed for various applications. In addition to enhancing the event space, the carpet improves walking comfort, absorbs sound, and keeps areas clean—all with a focus on environmental responsibility. The carpet, supplied by Alma, is Made in Italy and produced following EMAS, ISO 9001, and ISO 14001 environmental standards. Furthermore, Alma has offset the CO₂ emissions generated during production by co-financing the Cordillera Azul forest conservation project in Peru.

Additionally, Assagenti and Assagenti Servizi S.r.l.U have entered into an agreement with ANCE Liguria to donate used carpeting to ANCE Genova member companies. These companies can request the material for reuse in activities related to their business operations.
