Genoa Shipping Week

Genoa Shipping Week was born from the fusion of two important events in Genoa, Shipbrokers and Shipagents Dinner and Port&ShippingTech, it is a new and relevant initiative which enhances shippings, logistics, technological innovations in the maritime field and their vital roles for the development of world industry.

From the 15th to the 22nd of September 2013 the Congress Centre of the Porto Antico in Genoa, the heart of the shipping port activities in town, will be the site of a series of conferences and meetings open to the whole international shipping community, which will terminate with the traditional Gala Dinner, organized by Young Shipbrokers and Shipagents Group. It will be held at the Fiera di Genoa, in the Pavilion designed by the Architect Jean Nouvel with its picturesque terrace overlooking the seafront.

The meetings, coordinated by speakers of great prestige, (university professors, shipping entrepreneurs, experts in advanced technology, in logistics, in environmentally friendly systems, in strategic and competitive development) will touch upon themes such as the development of new markets (focusing on Turkey and North Africa) smart logistics, green shipping, ports and the development of the touristic offer and the professions of the sea.
Genoa today is the seat of the greatest shipping community at national level due to its supremacy in terms of the overall movement of goods and of its position amongst the main Mediterranean ports of final destination as far as container transportation is concerned.

The fast-growing traffic in the port of Genoa is doubtlessly connected to the fact of its having become a reference point for the major port service managing companies on a world scale basis. Over 150 services line connect Genoa to the greatest ports worldwide. Its proximity to the most important centers of industrial production and consumption in Italy (Milan and Turin are only 150 kilometers away) and the close distance to the main industrial areas of central Europe, such as Basil (Switzerland), Munich (Germany) and Vienna (Austria), render the port of Genoa an ideal gateway from the South for the shipping traffic to and from Europe, and a natural position for commerce with the Far East.

Alberto Banchero, President of “Young Shipbrokers and Shipagents Group” of Genoa stated: «Genoa Shipping Week reinforces the traditional Gala Dinner as an instrument to enhance and promote the primary role of Genoa in the international shipping industry. Above all, during this intense period of economic crisis, the new event represents an opportunity of encounter and broadly shared goals and ideas with the representatives of all the different realities of the shipping sector».

Carlo Silva, President of Clickutility Team, declares: «We are extremely glad to share the experience we have acquired in the organization of the Forum Port&ShippingTech, which has reached its fifth edition, leader in the area of event-planning. Thanks to this alliance, the Forum comes into a project of a wider scope and we will be able to offer conferences of the highest level on all the themes which may be of interest to the international shipping cluster».
